What You Will Be Doing
As a Staff Software Engineer on the Driver Services team, you will help architect and maintain mission-critical systems supporting our more than 800K EV drivers across multiple continents. In this role, you will:
- Contribute to the evolution of a modern, scalable microservices architecture serving global driver use cases.
- Build reliable APIs and services that integrate with SQL and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
- Develop asynchronous event pipelines using Kafka, RabbitMQ, and similar technologies.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, QA, and engineers across the US, Europe, and India to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Embrace best practices in testing, observability, monitoring, and CI/CD.
- Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
Our services process hundreds of thousands of EV driver transactions per day. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of clean technology and enterprise software, helping to shape the future of electric transportation. As we expand our presence in India, this position presents significant growth potential for those interested in technical leadership. You'll play a key role in building and mentoring our Indian engineering team.
What You Will Bring to ChargePoint
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of backend software development experience.
- Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot, including production-grade service development.
- Experience with microservices and understanding of distributed systems fundamentals.
- Solid knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch).
- Hands-on experience with message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across global, distributed teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Golang or PHP.
- Familiarity with cloud-native platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Prior experience in mobility, IoT, or infrastructure-focused products.
