The App demise programme within first direct has a heavy reliance on Data Analysts/Engineers who can analyse, understand and map the existing data repositories and flows
This is a varied role which requires someone who is comfortable working with unfamiliar data and doing investigation based on high level requirements. See graphic below for more details
Key attributes are the ability to take initiative and work without close supervision.
The postholder will be required to complete and report on analysis and must be able to communicate effectively to business and technical team members at all levels
The postholder must have technical skills although much of the work will be analysis rather than development
Task outline
Mapping existing data and flows with legacy systems
Producing data extracts to support Business Analysts
Mapping data on inbound and outbound interfaces
Review data in legacy systems to understand characteristics, lineage and redundancy
Skills
Strong SQL skills critical for ad hoc data manipulation and analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Task ownership and ability to work proactively and independently with minimal support
Strong Excel skills would be advantageous as the role will require an element of data management.
Working knowledge of Terradata
Data lineage experience (end to end traceability and understanding of transformations)
Systems analysis / Data analysis skills and experience investigating data sources, understanding data flows
Good knowledge of data driven processes and data design
Working knowledge of SAS would be advantageous but is not critical
Understanding of Agile working and project lifecycle, along with ability to prioritise according to frequently changing project demands.
Understanding of related first direct / HSBC systems would be an advantage
