Job Summary
The Standard is seeking a Back-End Software Engineer II with expertise in Java to join our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Product Owners, Product Analysts, Scrum Masters, Front-End Engineers, Software Developers in Test, Data Engineers, DevOps / Site Reliability Engineers, and UX Designers to build scalable, modern backend services that power enterprise-grade applications. The ideal candidate should possess strong java programming skills, REST API development experience, and familiarity with back-end technologies such as Java Spring Boot alongside strong understanding of API engineering to drive innovation and efficiency in building enterprise grade solutions. The candidate must have experience developing in Microsoft Azure with Azure-native resources.
As a Back-end Software Engineer II you will work with general instructions on routine tasks to build highly scalable and reliable REST APIs, services, and applications that deliver digital capabilities to customers. You will apply best practices such as SOLID across all stages of the software development life cycle and contribute to developing best‑in‑class engineering patterns and methodologies that can significantly transform business processes. In addition, you will develop and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines for application build and deployment to ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency, while working within Azure DevOps and GitHub to support streamlined development workflows.
- Ability to work on-site in Bengaluru, India is a requirement of the role.
This role follows a hybrid work model, with a primary base in Bengaluru. While on-site presence is essential for key engagements, flexibility is offered for remote work based on business needs and team alignment.
Skills And Background You’ll Need
Education: A Engineering degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems is required.
Experience: 2+ years of related experience.
- Experience implementing Java API design patterns using frameworks like Spring Boot
- Experience optimizing APIs for speed, responsiveness, and ensuring APIs match specifications, such as the OpenAPI spec
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes on Azure platform
- Experience in load testing REST API applications with tools like Apache JMeter or SOAPUI
- Experience in integrating with databases (SQL and NoSQL)
- Experience with developing and implementing in Microsoft Azure
- Experience implementing or working with CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Working within an Agile delivery / DevOps methodology to deliver proof of concept and production implementation in iterative sprints
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Experience configuring and implementing Azure Application Gateway and API management solutions like Kong Konnect preferred
- Experience in working with event driven publish-subscribe solution patterns using solutions like Azure Event Hub or Kafka and developing end to end orchestrations preferred
- Previous experience in a GCC environment is highly preferred.
