Your Impact
OpenText is seeking a Software Engineer to work on the architecture, design and implementation of a product that provides reliable data protection and high accessibility for rapidly growing business data. The product is a large scale, highly distributed data protection solution.
This engineer will report into the Manager of the Data Protector development Team, work across engineering disciplines, participate in requirements specifications, define architecture, and contribute to the design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of all components associated with the solution’s management back-end.

Your Impact
OpenText is seeking a Software Engineer to work on the architecture, design and implementation of a product that provides reliable data protection and high accessibility for rapidly growing business data. The product is a large scale, highly distributed data protection solution.
This engineer will report into the Manager of the Data Protector development Team, work across engineering disciplines, participate in requirements specifications, define architecture, and contribute to the design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of all components associated with the solution’s management back-end.
What The Role Offers
- Designs limited enhancements, updates, and programming changes for portions and subsystems of systems software, including operating systems, compliers, networking, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools.
- Analyzes design and determines coding, programming, and integration activities required based on specific objectives and established project guidelines.
- Executes and writes portions of testing plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned portion of application; identifies and debugs issues with code and suggests changes or improvements.
- Participates as a member of project team of other software systems engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for assigned systems portion or subsystem.
- Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding software systems design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
- Ability to grasp new concepts and technology quickly and handle priorities in the areas of responsibility.
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent with 5 -8 years’ experience.
- Strong C & C++ programming skills
- Strong user level system programming background (Multi-threading, IPC, Network communication, Operating System interactions, protocol development, etc)
- Excellent debugging skills
- Knowledge in Identity and file access protocols (DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Kerberos, RPC and SMB) is an add-on.
- Using software systems design tools and languages.
- Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Designing software systems running on multiple platform types.
- Software systems testing methodology, including execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language. Ability to effectively communicate design proposals and negotiate options.
- You are persistent and inquisitive. You have to understand why things are happening the way they are.
- You are determined to understand cyber attack techniques at a very detailed level.
- You are a self-starter who is able to work with minimal management, however have strong collaboration and interpersonal skills to work together with several other professionals from other information security fields.
- You’re a creative thinker who wants to answer the question, “Why?”
- Your workstation is a pyramid of monitors that you can't take your eyes off of at the risk of missing something.
- You have a desire to learn new technologies.
