We are looking for a Data Engineer with a strong IT background and hands-on experience in industrial automation environments. This role will focus on connecting and integrating data sources such as PLCs, OPC servers, and other shop-floor equipment into enterprise data systems for advanced analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data pipelines that connect industrial data sources (PLCs, SCADA, DCS) via OPC UA/DA and other protocols.
- Interface with OPC servers, IoT gateways, and plant-level hardware to extract real-time process and equipment data.
- Develop scripts and automation solutions using Python to preprocess, transform, and move data to centralized databases or cloud platforms.
- Work with Google Data Studio or other visualization tools to enable data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure secure, scalable, and reliable data architecture aligning with IT-OT convergence goals.
- Collaborate with process engineers, IT, and data science teams to ensure smooth data flow from edge devices to enterprise systems.
- Support data quality initiatives and participate in the deployment of advanced analytics and machine learning models.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in data engineering roles within industrial or manufacturing setups.
- Hands-on experience with:
- OPC UA/DA, PLC protocols (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider, etc.)
- Python programming for data extraction and transformation
- Database systems (SQL, NoSQL), cloud platforms, or edge computing
- Data visualization using Google Data Studio, Power BI, or similar tools
- Experience with data historians like PI System, Aspen IP.21, or Honeywell PHD
- Knowledge of MQTT, Modbus, BACnet, or other industrial communication protocols
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Understanding of cybersecurity in OT networks
