Expedia Group is seeking a talented and experienced Data Scientist III to join our Pricing Analytics team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models that drive real-time pricing decisions across our product portfolio. You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and revenue teams to solve complex optimization problems using advanced statistical modeling and online experimentation. Key responsibilities include building automated price elasticity models, and A/B testing pipelines. You’ll work with tools such as Python (scikit-learn, pandas), Spark/Databricks and Airflow. This is a high-impact role where your insights will directly influence pricing strategy, business outcomes, and customer experience. Responsibilities
- Deep dive into various pricing-related datasets to uncover patterns and suggest clear optimization paths.
- Design, conduct, and analyze online experiments (A/B tests) leveraging industry best practices.
- Develop and leverage a best-in-class analytical toolkit to extract insights and make data-driven recommendations.
- Develop and maintain clear and user-friendly dashboards and reports to track and analyze KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and performance metrics. Train stakeholders on their usage.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify key business challenges and provide analytical insights and recommendations to support decision-making.
- Drive action to improve pricing KPIs, utilizing the 80/20 rule to focus effort on the most impactful results. Demonstrate creativity and persistence in overcoming roadblocks.
- Be curious and constantly monitor key metrics and trends to proactively suggest actions or highlight business opportunities.
- Master’s degree in a technical or numerical discipline: engineering, economics, statistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics—experience in pricing or within the travel industry is a plus.
- Mastery of SQL and experience working with complex data ecosystems is a must-have.
- Demonstrated knowledge in statistics and online experimentation.
- Knowledge of Python or R.
- Solid business acumen, with the ability to connect data to actionable insights.
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
