Overview
- ROLE SUMMARY
We are looking for a QA Lead to own and drive the quality charter for a large-scale, real-time platform built on distributed systems and modern architecture.
This role requires a blend of hands-on technical expertise and strategic leadership. You will define the QA strategy, scale automation across UI, API, and backend, mature CI/CD quality gates, and build a high-performing QA/SDET team. Your work will directly influence platform reliability, performance, and overall customer experience.
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
2.1 QA STRATEGY & GOVERNANCE
Define and own the end-to-end QA strategy across web, mobile, API, and backend systems.
Establish and enforce quality gates, entry/exit criteria, and release readiness checklists.
Promote an automation-first, shift-left testing culture throughout engineering teams.
Standardize QA processes, templates, documentation, and reporting across teams.
2.2 TEST PLANNING, EXECUTION & COVERAGE
Review and approve test plans, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.
Ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional, regression, integration, compatibility, and smoke testing.
Define testing strategies for complex workflows spanning multiple services and data pipelines.
Oversee API testing, contract testing, and validation of service interactions.
2.3 AUTOMATION ROADMAP (UI + API + BACKEND)
Define and own the automation roadmap across UI, API, and backend layers.
Lead design and development of automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, etc.
Ensure automated test suites cover critical and high-risk flows.
Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, Jenkins etc) with proper reporting.
2.5 API, MICROSERVICES & NON-FUNCTIONAL TESTING
Drive API-level and microservices testing including schema validation and backward compatibility.
Define mocking/stubbing strategies and test data management practices.
Support performance/load/stress testing using JMeter, k6, Locust, etc.
2.6 RELEASE MANAGEMENT & PRODUCTION QUALITY
Own release quality across features, experiments, infra upgrades, and migrations.
Participate in sprint planning, release planning, and go/no-go decisions.
Maintain current and right-sized regression suites for frequent deployments.
2.7 RCA, OBSERVABILITY & INCIDENT SUPPORT
Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for P0/P1 issues and identify coverage, tooling, or process gaps.
Work with engineering to improve observability (logs, metrics, traces) where relevant.
Use production signals to derive new test scenarios and automation improvements.
Ensure RCA action items are delivered and validated.
2.8 TEAM LEADERSHIP & MENTORING
Lead and mentor QA Engineers and SDETs with clear technical and career guidance.
Review test strategies, automation quality, and QA deliverables.
Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Support recruiting, onboarding, and scaling of QA and SDET talent.
- QUALIFICATIONS
7–10 years of experience in Software QA, with at least 2–3 years in a lead or senior role.
Strong Hands-on Experience In
UI automation: Selenium, Playwright, Cypress
API automation: Rest Assured, Postman/Newman, Karate
SQL and backend validation
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, Agile/Scrum practices, and defect lifecycle.
Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
Exposure to performance/load testing tools such as JMeter, k6, Locust.
