Skills and Competencies
- 3–5 years of experience in at least one modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, Python, or C#/.NET
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating microservices, data platforms, and data engineering workflows
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, including scalability, performance, reliability, and fault tolerance principles
- Experience with cloud-native technologies, preferably AWS, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with streaming and batch-processing technologies such as Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, and AWS Glue jobs
- Proactive and collaborative mindset with a strong passion for continuous learning and problem-solving
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and operate critical backend services, APIs, and data processing systems
- Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code in Java, Python, and/or C#/.NET
- Solve complex technical challenges related to distributed systems, concurrency, and performance at scale
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to translate functional requirements into robust technical designs
- Participate in architectural discussions and code reviews to continuously elevate engineering standards
- Own the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support
- Identify opportunities to improve platform architecture and propose practical, scalable solutions
- Promote engineering best practices for scalability, reliability, security, and observability
- Communicate technical decisions and project status clearly to stakeholders and partner teams

The Platform Engineering team at Moody’s Insurance Solutions builds the foundational services, infrastructure, and developer tools that support modern, cloud-native SaaS products. The team enables scalability, reliability, and high-quality delivery, acting as a force multiplier for product engineering teams across the organization and helping accelerate innovation across Moody’s Insurance Solutions.
