Job Description
Arista Networks is looking for world-class Software Test Engineers (aka System Test Engineers) to help us in building the highest quality networking products catering to the large-scale Artificial Intelligence (AI) Data Centers. AI data centers are specialized facilities for intensive AI computation and data processing. Unlike traditional data centers, they require higher power density, advanced cooling, and robust networking to support AI workloads like machine learning and deep learning.

This job requires you to collaborate closely with the development and customer facing teams to understand the deployment of AI Data Center features and working side by side with them, helping us to explore, find and fix our bugs before they can reach our customers.
Who You’ll Work With
You will work with software development engineers, hardware engineers, field support engineers, product managers, and software test engineers to analyse the customer requirements and use cases, gather technical details, create software test plans, and validate that the product meets our customer’s requirements. You will also work with our customer support and engineering teams to help address escalated customer issues by reproducing and debugging those in the lab.
You will NOT spend your time running manual regressions because Arista’s developers automate all the basic functional and integration tests. Instead, you’ll bring your intelligence, creativity, and drive to work every day to help us understand how our products are going to be used by our customers in the fast evolving AI Networking landscape and to make sure that they’re going to work every time. Your job is to find the hard bugs, the ones not easily exposed by the developers’ automated unit and product level tests.
Arista operates on the principles of one engineering team, which means that information, knowledge, access, and collaboration is not siloed within a so-called business unit. You will get to learn what you would like to (the products, technologies, etc. - across engineering) and will be able to contribute and create an impact in any area that you might be interested in.
What You’ll Do
- Customer-focused testing and End-to-End ownership
- Understand feature deployment/use cases from customer-facing teams. Write test plans, and design complex network topologies to validate Arista features and products for functionality, performance, stability, and scalability.
- Root Cause Analysis and Improving test coverage
- Identify defects and validate their resolution. Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and proactively identify test coverage gaps. Take initiatives to enhance the efficiency and robustness of automated tests.
- Assist in escalation reproduction
- Collaborate with our customer support and engineering teams to reproduce and debug escalated customer issues in a lab environment.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work closely with development, test and customer facing teams to analyse test coverage gaps and improve testing coverage and efficiency in complex network deployments.
- Automation and tool development
- Build automation tools to improve testing efficiency, including creating scripts and test suites for AI Data Center features.
- Driving Innovation Through Mentorship
- Lead and mentor the team on testing emerging technologies on AI networking, nurturing innovation and growth within the test organisation.
Qualifications
- Experience and Education: BE/B-Tech/ME/M-Tech in CS/CE/ECE with 3+ years of relevant Networking industry experience.
- Strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Ethernet, RSTP/ MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, IGMP, PIM SM/SSM, QoS, L2/L3 protocols, VxLAN, MPLS, CFM, Platform validation, HA, Network Management.
- Experience with IXIA and/or Spirent test tools desired.
- Proven expertise in creating test methodologies and writing test plans.
