Software Test Engineer

Overview

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Software Test Engineer with strong experience in API testing to ensure the quality and performance of our software products. The ideal candidate will work closely with developers, product managers, and QA team members to validate RESTful APIs and backend services in agile development environments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and execute test cases for RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Validate data exchange between client and server using tools like Postman, Swagger, and cURL.
• Write and maintain automated API test scripts using tools such as RestAssured, TestNG, JUnit, or Karate.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines to integrate API testing into build and release processes (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
• Analyze API responses and logs to ensure accuracy, performance, and security.
• Perform load and stress testing using tools like JMeter, Gatling, or Locust.
• Create and maintain mock servers and test data management for isolated testing.
• Report bugs and track issues using JIRA, Bugzilla, or similar tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Provide input into test strategies, risk analysis, and QA best practices.

Required Skills:

• Strong understanding of API concepts, HTTP methods, status codes, and authentication (OAuth, JWT, API Key).
• Proficiency with API testing tools like Postman, SoapUI, Swagger, Insomnia.
• Experience in API test automation frameworks (e.g., RestAssured, Karate, ReadyAPI).
• Working knowledge of JSON, XML, and related data structures.
• Familiarity with SQL and backend database validations.
• Version control knowledge (e.g., Git, GitHub, Bitbucket).
• Understanding of SDLC and STLC, including test planning and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Knowledge of microservices architecture.
• Scripting experience in Python, JavaScript, or Java.
• Exposure to performance testing and security testing of APIs.
• ISTQB or other relevant certifications is a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
