Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)

Overview

Diligent is looking for a Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with a strong software engineering background to lead initiatives that ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our applications and infrastructure.

This role is ideal for someone passionate about automation, observability, and continuous improvement in production environments. The ideal candidate is a seasoned Site Reliability Engineer with a strong background in automation, performance optimization, and operational excellence. You are passionate about building resilient systems and thrive in fast-paced, complex environments. Strong communication skills will be required as you will be working with multiple engineering teams to implement more efficient and reliable procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Support multiple Diligent datacentres and deployments in the Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Lead and improve daily operational processes across production environments.
• Contribute to incident management and response efforts, conduct root cause analysis and lead retrospective reviews for all Diligent applications.
• Drive observability, cost optimization, and security best practices across multiple cloud environments.
• Build self-service tools and automation pipelines to enhance developer productivity and system reliability.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code practices for consistent environment management.
• Collaborate with engineering and SRE teams to improve system performance, maintainability, and scalability.
• Mentor team members and promote SRE best practices across engineering teams.
  
  
  

• 7+ years of professional experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK, CDKTF (Terraform CDK), or Terraform.
• Proficiency in designing, implementing, and testing scalable software architectures.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CodePipeline, or similar).
• Strong automation and scripting abilities for operational workflows and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong communication of technical and AI-related concepts to diverse stakeholders; proven ability to lead projects, influence engineering culture, and mentor peers in AI-augmented workflows.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
  
  
  

• Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools like OpenSearch (Elastic), SignalFX, or Azure/AWS-native services.
• Leverage AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, CLI assistants, code generation tools) to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.
• Set up monitoring, alerting, and logging systems using AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and third-party tools to ensure system health, security, and performance.
• Up to date knowledge of modern programming/scripting languages such as .Net, Typescript, Python, PowerShell, Golang.
• Hands-on experience with CDK Pipelines, Step Functions, and Azure/AWS-native DevOps tooling.
• Good working experience for a wide range of technologies, frameworks, and platforms such as Azure Cloud, AWS Cloud, Windows, Linux, Portainer and Kubernetes.
• Experience on SQL databases and optimizations.
