About the Hiring Function

The Product & Technology (P&T) function drives newsroom transformation by integrating AI-powered solutions, automation, and smart tools to enhance content creation and streamline workflows. About the Role

• System Administration: Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot our Linux-based server environments (virtual and cloud-based). Perform routine patching, upgrades, and system hardening.
• Technical Support: Act as a key point of contact for infrastructure-related queries and incidents. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to application deployments, system performance, and connectivity in a timely manner.
• Kubernetes Operations: Assist in deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications on our Kubernetes clusters. Perform basic operational tasks like checking pod status, logs, and resource utilization using kubectl.
• DevOps & Automation: Contribute to the development and maintenance of our CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD) to enable rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Scripting: Automate manual and repetitive tasks using scripting languages like Bash or Python.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Implement and manage monitoring solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to ensure high availability and performance of our platform. Respond to system alerts and participate in an on-call rotation.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to understand their infrastructure needs and to streamline the development lifecycle.
• Documentation: Create and maintain clear and concise documentation for systems, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 2-5 years of professional experience in a role such as Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or Technical Support Engineer.
• Linux Administration: Strong proficiency in Linux/UNIX administration (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), including command-line tools, file systems, networking, and security.
• Kubernetes Basics: Hands-on experience with fundamental Kubernetes concepts (Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets) and using kubectl for basic cluster interaction.
• DevOps Mindset: Understanding of DevOps principles and familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash is a must; Python is a strong plus).
• Cloud Platform: Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to solving technical issues.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Docker for building and managing container images.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPCs, Firewalls).

Experience with managing databases (e.g., PostgreSQL,).
